Join Victoria for a 90-minute extended practice exploring backbending.
Backbends can look dramatic, but they’re not really about the destination. They’re a process of learning to move differently in your body. In this class, we’ll spend time preparing the spine, shoulders, and front body so that backbends feel supported rather than forced. Strength, breath, and flow are all part of the equation.
In a world where we spend so much time folded forward - at desks, on phones, protecting the front of the body - backbends offer a chance to move in the opposite direction: creating space across the chest and building resilience through the back of the body.
Expect a steady flow to get the body moving, followed by time to break down key actions that help make poses like Camel, Wheel, and other backbends more accessible.
Depending on the group, we may also explore partner-assisted variations to help you safely experience more space and lift in your practice. Whether you’re newer to backbends or already comfortable with them, you’ll leave with a clearer understanding of how to approach them with more confidence and ease.
What we’ll explore:
🏹 Preparing the spine and shoulders for backbending
🏹 Strength and stability to support deeper shapes
🏹 Smart techniques for entering and exiting poses safely
🏹 Options and variations depending on your experience level
If there’s a backbend you’re curious about, feel free to message Victoria ahead of time.
