Join NHS midwife, hypnobirthing teacher and pregnancy yoga instructor Laura Hayward Alfia for a 3-hour workshop designed to support you emotionally, mentally and physically as you prepare to meet your baby. Whether this is your first or fourth birth, and no matter your birth plan, this workshop offers essential tools to help you feel calmer, confident and informed.
Expect a nourishing blend of:
✨ Pregnancy yoga to support optimal fetal positioning and create space in the pelvis through movement and biomechanics. Laura will share her knowledge of biomechanics in midwifery - postures to take into the birth room, why movement matters, and how to use it to help labour progress. This is also valuable if you’re planning a C-section.
✨ Practical and evidence-based hypnobirthing techniques for all types of birth, including breathwork, affirmations and meditations
✨ Birth planning guidance with an experienced midwife, including tips on navigating the NHS maternity system
✨ Conversations around birth rights, advocacy and avoiding unnecessary interventions

About the teacher
Laura is an experienced midwife having worked in all areas of NHS maternity care, most recently having spent several years on a midwife-led birthing centre.
Laura is also a hypnobirthing teacher, pregnancy and postnatal yoga teacher, breastfeeding specialist, founder of The Authentic Midwife and a mother herself.
Laura has a particular interest in ensuring women, birthing people and their birth partners feel equipped to navigate the maternity system, speaking a lot about how to avoid the most common forms of intervention in birth, how to make informed choices and how to feel both empowered AND excited to give birth.
Laura believes that holistic birth preparation, including antenatal education, pregnancy yoga and hypnobirthing is all essential, whether you are planning a waterbirth or an elective caesarean.
